A crystal wall light with a soft, faceted glow
The Gemma 2 Light Wall Light is a compact crystal fitting for anyone who wants a touch of sparkle on the wall rather than a plain shade. This Vintage Bronze version pairs rectangular prisms of amber pearl and clear crystal with a warmer, more traditional frame, so the crystal does the talking while the metalwork keeps the whole thing grounded.
Vintage Bronze finish
The frame is mild steel finished in Vintage Bronze, a warm, slightly aged tone that sits closer to antique brass than polished chrome. The rectangular crystal prisms are cut from amber pearl and clear crystal, layered so light passes through and catches at different angles rather than sitting flat against the wall. If you prefer a cooler, brighter look, Gemma is also available in a Silver Leaf finish.
How it works
Gemma takes 2 x E14 LED bulbs, which aren't included, so you'll need to add your own. Choose dimmable LED bulbs if you want it to work on a dimmer circuit. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earth connection as part of the wiring. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Gemma works well anywhere you want light with a bit of glamour rather than pure function: a hallway or landing, either side of a dining room mirror or sideboard, or flanking a dressing table or headboard in a bedroom. Two fittings mounted as a pair either side of a mirror or bed tend to show off the crystal best.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started small. In 1922, Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. The company stayed a family concern through several handovers, from Stanley Wiedemer taking sole ownership after Phil's death in 1937, to his grandson Rick joining in 1969 for a fifty year career, to the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, stepping into leadership roles from around 2000. Somewhere in that long family run the range grew well beyond outdoor lanterns into pieces like Gemma, where crystal and metalwork replace cast iron. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Questions People Ask
Is the Gemma wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable LED bulbs and use it on a dimmer circuit. With standard, non-dimmable bulbs it will only work at full brightness.
Do bulbs come with this fitting? No, Gemma takes 2 x E14 LED bulbs which are sold separately, so you'll need to order these alongside the fitting.
Does this need an electrician to install? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's a Class I fitting, so the installation needs a proper earth connection as well as a live and neutral.
What's the difference between the Vintage Bronze and Silver Leaf versions? Both use the same amber pearl and clear crystal prisms. Vintage Bronze gives the frame a warmer, more traditional look, while Silver Leaf gives a cooler, brighter finish.
How big is the Gemma wall light? It measures 27.9cm high, 31.1cm wide and 13.3cm deep, a compact fitting suited to mounting singly or in pairs.
