An open cage chandelier with real presence
This 4 light Fulton pendant chandelier takes the collection's tapered, glass free cage design and gives it more scale than the single pendant, without stepping up to the largest chandeliers in the range. Four square candle sleeves sit around a slim central frame, so the fitting reads as open and airy rather than heavy, a good option if you want a bronze pendant chandelier with a bit more presence over a table.
Bronze finish and mild steel frame
The frame is mild steel, finished in a warm Bronze that suits both traditional and more industrial rooms. There is no glass anywhere on this fitting, so the exposed candle sleeves and open cage structure are the whole look. It sits well against wood, brick or plaster, and pairs easily with warm brass or aged metal furniture and hardware nearby.
How it works
This chandelier hangs from the ceiling on four E14 bulbs, which are not included, so add four LED candle bulbs to your order. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earthed connection. The drop adjusts from 48.2cm up to 139.7cm, so it can be set for a low ceiling or a taller stairwell. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Its size makes it a good fit for a dining table, kitchen island or hallway, and it also works well over a staircase where the adjustable drop is useful. It sits comfortably in a living room, bedroom or entrance hall of moderate size, giving more scale than a single pendant while staying easy to live with day to day.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley set up shop in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. An open, structural design like this Fulton chandelier is a long way from those early beginnings, and the business that got it here grew through Stanley Wiedemer, who bought into the company in the mid 1930s and took it over outright after Phil died in 1937, then through his grandson Rick, who joined in 1969 and spent fifty years with the business. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, including this piece, for UK wiring and full CE certification, which is how a fitting shaped by three generations of one Ohio family ends up ready to hang in a British home.
