A smaller take on the Freeport lantern

The Freeport is Hinkley's take on a classic New England wall lantern, and this small version brings that look to a size that suits narrower porches, side doors and smaller garden walls. It has the same traditional lantern shape as the rest of the range, just scaled down for spots where the medium or large size would be too much.

Textured White finish

This one is finished in Textured White, made from a weather resistant composite with clear seeded glass panels. The white finish gives it a crisp, coastal look that sits well against white or pale render, pebbledash or brick, and pairs easily with other white exterior fittings.

How it works

It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. It fixes directly to an exterior wall. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley set up a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. Lanterns like this small Freeport sit close to that original focus on outdoor lighting. When Phil became ill in the mid 1930s he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, who bought the rest of the company after Phil died in 1937 and moved his family to Cleveland to keep it running. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
