The Fitzgerald 3 Light Large Wall Lantern is the biggest fitting in the Fitzgerald range, built around a strong, square edged shape that leans into an industrial look rather than a traditional coach lantern style. This Textured Black and Burnished Bronze finish gives it a weathered, foundry like character that suits a converted industrial exterior just as well as a more traditional one.

The body is made from aluminium and brass, finished in a deep Textured Black with Burnished Bronze picked out on the frame. Clear seeded glass panels sit behind the metalwork, adding a subtle texture to the light without hiding the lamps inside. It pairs naturally with black ironmongery, brick, stone and dark timber cladding.

How it works

Three lamp positions sit behind the seeded glass panels, each taking an E14 bulb. Bulbs are not supplied, so you will need to add three to your order. The light is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Rated IP44, this lantern is built for outdoor use and copes well with rain and driving weather, making it suitable for porches and other covered or partially exposed exterior spots. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's very first catalogue, put together by founder Phil R. Hinkley in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, ran to just 14 products, and most of them were outdoor lanterns. A century on, the Fitzgerald range still carries that outdoor lighting instinct, just scaled up and reworked with an industrial finish rather than the more traditional lantern shapes Phil started with. The Wiedemer family has owned and run the company since Stanley Wiedemer bought out the business outright in 1937, and by the time the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles around 2000, Hinkley had grown well beyond that first small catalogue. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
