The Fitzgerald 2 Light Medium Wall Lantern sits between the smaller and larger lanterns in Hinkley's Fitzgerald range. Two lamp positions behind clear seeded glass give it a fuller spread of light than the smallest lantern, while its compact wall mounted design keeps it easy to fit beside a front door or along a porch wall. Textured black paired with burnished bronze gives this particular finish real industrial character.

This lantern is built from aluminium and brass, finished in textured black with burnished bronze highlights and fitted with clear seeded glass panels that add a subtle handmade texture to the light it throws. The dark body and warm bronze tones sit well against brick, render or timber, and pair naturally with dark window frames, black ironmongery or aged brass house numbers.

How it works

Two E14 LED bulbs, not supplied, sit behind the seeded glass panels and give this lantern its two point spread of light. It is dimmable as long as dimmable bulbs are fitted. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fixture, which means it must be properly earthed as part of the installation.

Rated IP44, this lantern is built for outdoor use and can handle direct exposure to wind and rain, making it suited to porches, front doors, garden walls and other covered or partly exposed exterior spaces. Its medium scale means it works well either as a single fitting beside a door or in a matching pair either side of an entrance.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 when Phil R. Hinkley started the company in Cleveland, Ohio, making outdoor lanterns, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. That early focus on lanterns is still visible in ranges like Fitzgerald a century later. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman who had already bought half the business in the mid 1930s, took over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His descendants, across three more generations of the Wiedemer family, have kept the company going ever since. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, including Fitzgerald, for UK and European wiring.
