A slim wall light with the LED built in
The Hinkley Dax 1 Light Wall Light is a slim, low profile fitting with its LED integrated directly into the body, finished here in a warm Heritage Brass. Rather than projecting out from the wall, it sits close and flat against it, so it reads as a neat, uncluttered shape rather than a bulky fixture.
Heritage Brass finish
The body is steel, finished in Heritage Brass for a warm, aged gold tone rather than a bright, polished shine. It pairs naturally with warm wood tones, brushed brass hardware and soft furnishings, and works equally well as a single fitting or in a pair either side of a bed or mirror.
How it works
A single 8W integrated LED sits inside the fitting, giving 320 lumens of warm white light at 3000K with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. There is no separate bulb to source or replace. A built-in on/off switch is included, and the mounting hardware is concealed behind the back plate for a clean finish once installed. This fitting is Class I, which means it must be properly earthed to the mains supply. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Its slim, low profile shape makes it a good reading light beside a bed or armchair, and a neat accent light in a hallway, landing or home office where a deeper fitting would feel out of place. It also suits a child's room or a kitchen nook, where a compact, close fitting light is useful without taking up much wall space.
The story behind Hinkley
When Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, its debut catalogue held just 14 outdoor lantern designs. The business passed through Stanley Wiedemer and then three more generations of the same family, including Rick Wiedemer Jr from 1969 and, from around 2000, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, who took the range far beyond those early lanterns and into refined interior pieces like this Dax wall light. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, this one included.
