Polished Antique Nickel finish

Dakota's cast steel frame is finished in Polished Antique Nickel, giving it a soft, slightly aged shine rather than a hard mirror polish. The faux leather straps and buckle detailing lean into the collection's rustic lodge character, and sit well against warm wood, leather furniture and other rustic or transitional finishes. The six hurricane shades are seeded glass, adding texture rather than plain clear glass.

How it works

Dakota takes 6 x E14 LED bulbs, which aren't included, so you'll need to add these to your order. Each bulb sits inside its own seeded glass hurricane shade, spread across the frame so the light is layered rather than coming from one central point. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs and use a compatible dimmer switch. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. Dakota is Class I, so it must be properly earthed as part of the installation, and given its size and 7.7kg weight, it needs secure ceiling support too.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. When Phil became ill in the mid 1930s, travelling salesman Stanley Wiedemer bought half the business, then took over the rest after Phil died in 1937, moving his own family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. Stanley's grandson Rick Wiedemer joined the company in 1969 for a career that spanned fifty years, and a fourth generation of Wiedemers, Kristi, Jess and Eric, began taking on leadership from around 2000. That family continuity runs through a piece like Dakota, where cast metal straps and buckle detailing still get the same attention that the company was built on. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, rewiring fittings like this one for 220 to 240V and full CE certification.

Is the Dakota chandelier dimmable? Yes. Fit dimmable E14 LED bulbs and use a compatible dimmer switch to dim it. Non dimmable bulbs will not dim, even with a dimmer fitted.
