The Hinkley Cordillera 1 Light Wall Light pairs a tubular glass diffuser with a slim aluminium frame, giving it a clean, contemporary shape that still works as a proper outdoor wall lantern. This Burnished Bronze version brings a warmer, richer tone to that shape, making it a good fit for period doorways as well as newer builds.

The frame is aluminium, finished in Burnished Bronze, paired with a clear seeded glass diffuser that softens the light rather than throwing a hard beam. The bronze tone sits somewhere between traditional and contemporary, so it works well against brick, render or timber cladding. It is also available in a Black finish, if you would prefer something starker.

How it works

Cordillera takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you will need to order one separately. The glass diffuser is dimmable if you fit dimmable LED bulbs. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It may need some simple assembly on arrival.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, Cordillera is weatherproof enough for a porch, front door or any outdoor wall with some shelter from direct rain. It also suits covered exterior spaces such as a carport or covered walkway, and its slim shape means it does not need much clearance either side of a doorway.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's very first catalogue, published in 1922 when Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio, ran to just 14 products, and outdoor lanterns were at the heart of it. Cordillera carries that same brief forward almost a hundred years on, even though its slim aluminium frame and tubular glass look nothing like those early pieces. The Wiedemer family has run Hinkley since Stanley Wiedemer bought the business outright in 1937, through three further generations who took the company from Hinkley Lighting to simply Hinkley between 2019 and 2020. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, including this one, for UK and European homes, converting each fitting to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Questions People Ask

Is the Hinkley Cordillera wall light dimmable? Yes, but only if you fit dimmable LED bulbs. Standard, non dimmable LEDs will not dim even on a dimmer switch.

Does it come with a bulb? No. Cordillera takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is sold separately, so you will need to add one to your order before it can be used.

Is this light suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It has an IP44 rating, which makes it suitable for a porch, front door or any outdoor wall that has some shelter from direct rain.
