The Hinkley Cordillera 1 Light Wall Light in Black takes on a job traditionally done by an ornate lantern, but with a much cleaner shape. A single tubular glass diffuser sits inside a slim aluminium frame, giving it a graphic, contemporary look that suits a front door just as well as a covered porch.

Black finish and clear seeded glass

This variant pairs a black aluminium frame with a clear seeded glass diffuser, so the light reads crisp and modern rather than traditional. The seeded texture in the glass softens the bulb's glow slightly without hiding it. The same design is also available in a Burnished Bronze finish, if you'd prefer a warmer tone for your scheme.

How it works

This fitting takes 1 x E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to order one separately. It's dimmable if you fit a dimmable bulb. The fitting is wired to Class I standard, which means it requires earthing during installation. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. Over a century later, a piece like the Cordillera wall light still sits squarely in that original outdoor lighting tradition, just with a far cleaner, more contemporary shape. The company stayed in family hands through several generations, from Stanley Wiedemer taking over in 1937 to his grandson Rick joining in 1969, and by around 2000 the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, including this fitting, converting it to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
