A compact lantern with real Casa character

This single Casa wall lantern brings the collection's rustic character down to a smaller scale, twisted wrought iron, hand forged scrollwork and clear seeded glass, sized for spots where one light is enough. It's finished in Olde Black and stands 33cm tall, 17.6cm wide and 20.1cm deep, making it a neat fit for a porch, side door or garden wall.

Olde Black finish and materials

The frame is aluminium, paired with clear seeded glass panels that let light spill out in a soft, textured glow rather than a flat beam. The Olde Black finish has the same aged, Spanish inspired look as the rest of the Casa range, so it sits comfortably alongside wrought iron door furniture, dark brick and natural stone.

How it works

This is a single bulb wall lantern that takes one E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. It's dimmable if you fit a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The lantern is Class I, which means it requires an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, this lantern is weatherproof enough for most exterior positions, a front door, side entrance or garden wall, though like any outdoor fitting it's best kept out of direct, driving rain where possible. Its smaller footprint makes it a good choice where the 2 light version of the Casa lantern would be too wide, such as either side of a narrower door or gate.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, and outdoor lighting like this Casa lantern has been part of the range from that very first catalogue. The company passed through the Wiedemer family for three generations, from Stanley Wiedemer's purchase of the business in 1937 through his grandson Rick, who joined in 1969. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs, including pieces from the Casa collection, for UK wiring and CE certification, which is how a lantern with roots in 1920s Cleveland ends up fully certified for a British porch a century later.
