This Casa wall lantern takes the collection's fine detailing, clear seeded glass and ornate scrollwork, and puts it to work outdoors in Olde Black. It's a rustic, characterful shape that suits a front door, porch or garden wall looking for a touch of Spanish style.

Finish and materials

Finished in Olde Black, the Casa lantern is built in aluminium, with twisted, hand forged style scrollwork as the main event. Clear seeded glass panels let light through with a slightly uneven, handmade texture, so no two panels look quite the same.

How it works

This wall lantern takes two E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you'll need to add two to your order. It works with dimmable bulbs if you want that option, though standard bulbs will not dim. It fixes directly to an exterior wall using the integrated mounting plate. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed.

Where it works best

This 2 light wall lantern is IP44 rated, which covers it for splashing water from any direction, making it a good fit either side of a front door, on a porch or along a sheltered garden wall. It's not intended for spots that face direct, heavy rain or a jet of water, so choose a reasonably sheltered position on the wall.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started life in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. Outdoor pieces like this Casa lantern have been part of the brand's range from that very first year. After Phil Hinkley died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer took full ownership and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company, and by 1969 his grandson Rick had joined for a career at Hinkley that would span fifty years. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this wall lantern dimmable? Yes, it works with dimmable bulbs if you fit them, but standard non dimmable bulbs will not dim, so choose your bulbs to match how you want to use it.

Are bulbs included with this lantern? No. It takes 2 x E14 bulbs and these are not supplied, so you'll need to add two suitable bulbs to your order before it can be used.
