The Vintage Iron finish sits on solid steel, with a warm, aged tone that suits the overlapping ribbon detailing. How it works

Carson takes 3 x E14 bulbs. Bulbs are not included, so you will need to add your own when you order. It works with a dimmer switch if you fit dimmable bulbs, and the drop is adjustable so you can set the hanging height to suit your porch or pergola. It is Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, Carson is built to cope with the weather in a sheltered outdoor spot, such as a covered porch, a pergola or a patio ceiling with enough height for the adjustable drop. It is not intended for a fully exposed position with no overhead cover at all.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley set up as a small outdoor lantern maker with just 14 products in his debut catalogue. Exterior lighting has stayed part of the company's identity ever since, and a piece like Carson, with its bolder, more sculptural take on an outdoor chandelier, sits in that same tradition. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
