Burnished solid brass

Like the rest of the Cambridge range, this wall light is cast in solid brass, then finished in a burnished tone that softens the metal's shine into something closer to antique gold. The same beaded ball fonts and clear optic glass carry through from the larger pieces in the collection, so it pairs easily with a bigger Cambridge pendant or chandelier elsewhere in the room.

How it works

This is a single light wall fitting that wires directly into the wall rather than plugging in. It takes one E14 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. The fitting is dimmable if you fit a dimmable LED bulb, but stays at full brightness with a standard, non dimmable bulb. It's rated Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Its compact scale suits hallways, staircases and either side of a fireplace or mirror, anywhere a single traditional brass wall light is wanted rather than a larger fitting. It works just as well in a living room or dining room, especially paired either side of a chimney breast or console table.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out small. When Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, its first catalogue ran to just fourteen products, mostly outdoor lanterns. The Wiedemer family ran the business for generations after that, and by 1969 Stanley's grandson Rick had joined, staying on for a career that spanned fifty years. That same steady approach still shows in the Cambridge range today, from its largest chandeliers down to a single wall light like this one. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
