Burnished brass and clear optic glass

Cambridge's cast brass turnings and beaded ball fonts carry through to this smaller pendant, with each of its three arms finished in the same burnished brass as the rest of the collection and paired with clear optic glass fonts. The warm, aged tone of burnished brass suits dark paint, wood panelling and other traditional finishes such as bronze or aged pewter door and window furniture.

This pendant takes 3 x E14 LED bulbs, not included, so you will need to order these separately. It is dimmable if dimmable bulbs are used, and the drop adjusts between 66cm and 367cm so it can be set for a range of ceiling heights. It hangs from a ceiling rose and connects to the mains. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fixture, which means it requires an earth connection.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making outdoor lanterns, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had bought into the business in the mid 1930s, took it over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. Stanley's grandson Rick joined the business in 1969, carrying it through a third generation over a fifty year career, and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles from around 2000. A cast brass piece like this Cambridge pendant, with its turned fonts and clear optic glass, reflects the kind of traditional, detail led design the company built its name on from those early lantern days. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
