The body is cast in solid brass with a burnished finish, giving it a warmer, slightly aged tone rather than a bright polished shine. Beaded ball fonts and clear optic glass shades run along each arm, a detail that carries through the whole Cambridge range. It is a finish that sits comfortably with wood tones, antique brass hardware, and traditional or transitional interiors alike.

How it works

This pendant hangs from a ceiling rose on an adjustable cable, with a drop that can be set anywhere from 124cm to 425cm depending on your ceiling height. It takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add these to your order. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs, though standard bulbs will not allow this. This is a Class I fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Its scale and adjustable drop make it a good fit for double height entrance halls, staircases, and dining rooms where a single, substantial pendant is wanted instead of several smaller fittings. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out small. In 1922, Phil R. Hinkley founded the business in Cleveland, Ohio, as an outdoor lantern maker with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer took full ownership and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run the company himself. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined in 1969 and stayed for fifty years, guiding the business from those first small lanterns toward the kind of large scale, detailed pieces this Cambridge pendant represents. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
