The Hinkley Cambridge 3 Light Flush Mount brings a third light source to this flush ceiling design, cast in solid brass and finished in burnished brass for a warmer, more lived in look than a bright polished finish.

Solid brass in a burnished finish

This fitting is cast from solid brass and finished in burnished brass, giving it a softer, more antiqued tone than a bright polished brass. The beaded ball fonts and clear optic glass carry the same New England character as the rest of the Cambridge range, and the warm brass tone pairs well with wood furniture, cream or muted wall colours, and other aged metal finishes in the room.

How it works

This is a flush fitting that sits close to the ceiling and takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which aren't supplied. It's a Class I fitting, so it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

The extra light output makes this a good fit for slightly larger hallways, landings, dining rooms or living rooms, especially where a low ceiling or a period style rules out a pendant.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's story starts in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. When Phil became ill in the mid-1930s he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, and after Phil died in 1937 Stanley bought the rest and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined in 1969 for a fifty year career, and by the early 2000s the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, rewiring fittings like this Cambridge flush mount for 220 to 240V electrics and full CE certification.

Questions People Ask

Is this light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. With standard, non-dimmable bulbs it won't dim.

Are bulbs included? No. It takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which aren't supplied, so you'll need to order these separately.

Does this fitting need to be earthed? Yes, it's a Class I fitting so it needs to be earthed, and we always recommend having a qualified electrician install it.

Where does this light work best? Its flush profile and extra light output make it a good fit for hallways, landings, dining rooms and living rooms, particularly where a low ceiling or period style makes a pendant impractical.
