The Hinkley Cambridge 25 Light Chandelier is the biggest fitting in the whole Cambridge range, built for genuinely grand, high ceilinged rooms. It is a large fixture, with an adjustable drop from 135cm to 435cm, a diameter of 124.7cm and a weight of 50kg, so it is worth measuring your space carefully before you order. The Burnished Brass finish is applied by hand, and colour and tone can vary slightly from piece to piece, with screens also showing the finish differently to how it looks in person. Twenty five lights sit across a wide brass frame, making this one of the most dramatic chandeliers in the whole Hinkley range.

Solid brass in a burnished finish

Every part of this chandelier is cast or turned from solid brass, then finished in Burnished Brass for a warm, aged tone rather than a bright polished look. Beaded ball fonts and brass turnings run across the frame, paired with clear optic glass around each of the 25 lights. It suits traditional and period interiors well, and also works as a striking, oversized piece in a more contemporary double height space.

How it works

This chandelier takes 25 x E14 LED bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to order these separately. It is dimmable when fitted with dimmable LED bulbs, though it will not dim on a standard dimmer without them. The fitting is Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. Because of its size and weight, it is delivered on a pallet to UK mainland addresses only, with kerbside delivery as standard, so let us know in advance if it needs to go beyond ground floor.

Where it works best

A chandelier this size is suited to large living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and stairwells, particularly anywhere with a high or double height ceiling where its full drop can be used. In a smaller room, a fitting of this scale can overwhelm the space, so it works best where there is genuinely room for it to hang.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, from a debut catalogue of just 14 products. A chandelier on this scale is a long way from those first lanterns, but it reflects the same family ownership that has run the company for a century, from Stanley Wiedemer taking over in the 1930s to his grandson Rick joining the business in 1969 and the fourth generation of Wiedemers now leading it. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, which is how a piece this large reaches UK homes at all.
