The Hinkley Cambridge 2 Light Flush Mount is a solid brass ceiling fitting with cast brass turnings and clear optic glass. It sits close against the ceiling rather than hanging down, so you get real brass detailing without needing the drop of a pendant.

A warm, burnished brass finish

Cambridge is cast in solid brass rather than a lighter plated alternative, so the turnings and beaded ball fonts keep a crisp, weighted finish. This version comes in burnished brass, a warmer, softer toned finish than a bright polished brass. Screens can render brass tones differently to how they look in person, so treat any photo as a general guide to the finish rather than an exact match. The clear optic glass is left uncovered, letting the brass do most of the visual work.

How it works

This is a two light flush fitting that takes two E27 bulbs, which aren't included, so you'll need to add your own. Used with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch, it can be dimmed. With standard, non dimmable LED bulbs, it can't. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started life in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The business passed through the Wiedemer family from the 1930s onward, first to Stanley Wiedemer, then to his grandson Rick, who spent 50 years with the company from 1969, and by around 2000 to the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer. A solid brass, classically detailed piece like Cambridge sits comfortably within that long history of traditional design. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Questions People Ask

Is the Cambridge flush mount dimmable? Yes, but only if you fit dimmable LED bulbs along with a compatible dimmer switch. With standard, non dimmable LED bulbs it will not dim.

Are bulbs included? No. Cambridge takes 2 x E27 bulbs, sold separately, so you can choose the light output and colour temperature you want.

Can I install this myself? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed as part of installation.
