The Hinkley Bromley Single Small Wall Lantern takes the same updated traditional silhouette as the rest of the Bromley range and brings it down to a single light size. It suits a narrower wall, a modest porch or a side door, where a smaller fitting makes more sense than the wider Bromley versions.

Oil rubbed bronze on solid brass

This lantern is made from solid brass and finished in oil rubbed bronze, giving it a deep, warm tone that works well against brick, render or painted timber. The finish sits comfortably alongside black or bronze ironmongery and other traditional exterior details.

How it works

The lantern takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to order one separately. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's designed for a straightforward wall mount.

Where it works best

Rated IP44, this lantern is weatherproof enough for exposed outdoor locations such as an open porch, a front door surround or a side entrance. Its smaller scale makes it a good fit for narrower gaps between doors and windows, or anywhere a full sized Bromley lantern would look too large.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started life in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. There's something fitting about that history in a lantern like this one, sized down from the rest of the Bromley range for smaller entrances. The company passed through the Wiedemer family for generations, from Stanley Wiedemer's purchase of the remaining half of the business in 1937 through to his grandson Rick, who joined in 1969 and spent fifty years there. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
