The Bingham 3 Light Large Wall Lantern is the biggest fitting in the Bingham collection. It carries the same turn of the century gas light styling as the rest of the range, but with more scale and presence, making it an outdoor wall lantern suited to bigger porches and entrances.

Solid brass in a Sienna finish

This lantern is made from solid brass and finished in Sienna, a warm, aged brass tone that suits its antique styling. Clear seedy glass panels add texture and a slightly weathered look, so the light spills out unevenly rather than in a flat beam.

How it works

The lantern takes three E14 bulbs, sold separately, and is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, this lantern is weatherproof enough for a covered porch, either side of a front door, or mounted on a gatepost. As an outdoor fitting, it is designed for use outside rather than in a bathroom or other interior room.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making outdoor lanterns, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. Bingham's gas light styling echoes that early, functional lantern making. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business in the mid 1930s, took on the rest and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company. His grandson, Rick Wiedemer Jr, joined the business in 1969, in a career that went on to span fifty years. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, including its outdoor lanterns, for the UK and Europe, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
