Polished chrome and opal glass

The frame is mild steel, finished in polished chrome for a crisp, reflective look that suits tiled walls, mirrors and other chrome fittings. Each of the three shades is cased opal glass, which softens and evens out the light rather than showing a bare bulb. This design is also available in a nickel finish, for a softer, warmer tone.

How it works

This wall light takes three G9 LED bulbs of 3W each, and bulbs are not included, so you will need to add three to your order. It is dimmable as long as you fit dimmable bulbs. The fitting is Class I, which means it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. When founder Phil Hinkley fell ill in the mid 1930s, he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman, and after Phil's death in 1937 Stanley bought the rest and moved his family to Cleveland to run it. Stanley's grandson Rick Wiedemer joined the company in 1969 and spent fifty years there, followed by a fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric, who began taking on leadership roles around 2000. That family continuity is part of how a small lantern maker grew into a full range of indoor and outdoor lighting, wall lights like this Ainsley included. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for UK and European wiring and CE certification, which is how this fitting reaches British walls.

Is this wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Bulbs that are not dimmable will not work properly with a dimmer switch.
