Harte Vintage Tear Drop 0.64m Pier Light For Flat Piers - Cast Iron & Steel

This 0.64 metre pier light is built specifically for flat topped piers, part of Harte's Vintage Tear Drop range within the Goose Neck collection, taking its curved shape from the lamps once seen around Irish farmyards. Rather than sitting on a domed pier cap, its base is designed to fix flush to a flat pillar top.

Cast iron and galvanised steel

Cast iron and galvanised steel form the body of the fixture, giving it the solid, settled look a pier light needs. Harte says these cast iron and steel elements carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical parts, and installation related damage. The standard finish is gloss black, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Light passes through a clear polycarbonate lens set into the tear drop head, and the flat base plate allows it to be fixed directly to a flat topped pier or pillar without needing a shaped cap. A mains wiring connection is required, and we recommend a qualified electrician for the wiring and fixing.

Where it works best

It's the right choice where the entrance piers are built with flat, square tops rather than rounded caps, common on more modern gateposts and rendered pillars, marking an entrance without needing extra brickwork to adapt the top.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This pier light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, founded by Willie Harte in 1983 and continued today by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, along with private homes and commercial projects across Ireland and the UK.
