Harte Vintage Tear Drop 0.58m Pier Light - Cast Iron, Steel & Copper Head

This 0.58 metre pier light shares its cast iron and steel body with the standard version in Harte's Vintage Tear Drop range, but swaps in a copper head, giving the tear drop lantern a warmer tone against the dark ironwork below. It is designed to sit on top of a gate pier, part of the wider Goose Neck collection inspired by old farmyard lamp shapes.

Cast iron, steel and a copper head

The base and arm are cast in iron and paired with galvanised steel, finished in gloss black as standard, while the lantern head is formed in copper and left in its natural tone rather than painted to match. Harte's lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking covers the cast iron and steel elements of the fixture; as a copper part, the head itself falls outside that guarantee.

How it works

The tear drop head uses a clear polycarbonate lens to diffuse the light, and the base is shaped to sit securely on a pier top. It needs a mains wiring connection, and we recommend a qualified electrician handles both the wiring and the fixing to the pier.

Where it works best

Suited to gate piers framing a driveway or entrance, the copper head gives this version a slightly more decorative presence than the plain cast iron and steel light, useful where the entrance is a focal point rather than purely functional.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This pier light comes from Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer in New Ross, County Wexford, founded by Willie Harte in 1983 and now run by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private estates and homes across Ireland and the UK.
