Harte Vintage Tear Drop 0.58m Pier Light - Cast Iron & Steel

Standing 0.58 metres tall, this pier light is one of the shorter fixtures in Harte's Vintage Tear Drop range, part of the Goose Neck collection inspired by the curved shape of old farmyard lamps. It is built to sit on top of a gate pier, marking an entrance rather than lighting a long stretch of path.

Cast iron and galvanised steel

The fixture is cast in iron and paired with galvanised steel, giving it the weight and solidity expected of a pier top light. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its products carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and installation related damage. The standard finish is gloss black, with other colours available on request.

How it works

A clear polycarbonate lens spreads light out from the tear drop shaped head, while the fixture's base is designed to sit securely on top of a pier. It requires a mains wiring connection, and we recommend a qualified electrician carries out the wiring and fixing.

Where it works best

At this height, it suits gate piers either side of a driveway or entrance, giving a paired light either side of an entrance without overwhelming it. It reads well on both traditional stone piers and plainer rendered ones.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This pier light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, founded by Willie Harte in 1983 and carried forward today by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, as well as private homes and estates across Ireland and the UK.
