Harte Victorian 1.1m Globe Pedestal Light - Cast Iron

Standing 1.1 metres tall, this pedestal light is a mid height piece in Harte's Heritage Globe range, tall enough to work as a genuine path or garden light while keeping the compact footprint of a pedestal rather than a full lamp post.

Cast iron and galvanised steel build

The post and globe head are cast from iron, with galvanised steel used in the construction, and the globe is fitted with a clear polycarbonate lens that protects the light source while letting it show through on every side. It's finished in a standard gloss black, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Because light spreads out through the whole globe rather than in a single downward beam, this pedestal light gives ambient light around itself, useful for marking a route rather than lighting a task area. It needs mains wiring and a fixed base, and a qualified electrician should handle the connection.

Where it works best

At 1.1 metres, it works well lining a path, marking the corner of a lawn or flowerbed, or standing at intervals along a driveway edge. Several placed at even spacing give a garden a consistent, period feel after dark.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

Harte Outdoor Lighting has made cast iron and steel lighting from New Ross, County Wexford, since 1983, when Willie Harte founded the workshop now carried forward by Liz Harte and the next generation, Jack and Sam. Harte says the same cast iron construction is behind lighting installed at Adare Manor, the K Club and Áras an Uachtaráin.
