Harte Victorian 0.35m Globe Hanging Light With Chain - Galvanised Steel

This 0.35 metre hanging light is the smallest piece in Harte's Heritage Globe collection, suspended from a chain rather than fixed to a post or wall. It takes its shape from an original Victorian lamp post design, scaled down into a compact globe head that suits tighter spaces without losing the period detailing.

Galvanised steel and cast iron construction

The globe head is cast in iron while the chain and fixing components are galvanised steel, a combination chosen for strength as much as looks. A clear polycarbonate lens sits inside the globe, keeping the light source shielded from rain and wind while still letting it show through on every side. The standard finish is gloss black, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Because the light travels out through the whole globe rather than down in one direction, this fixture reads as a soft point of light rather than a spotlight, useful anywhere you want gentle illumination without glare underneath it. It needs mains wiring and a secure overhead fixing point, and we recommend a qualified electrician makes the connection.

Where it works best

At just 0.35 metres, this hanging light suits porches, covered entrances, pergolas and small courtyards where a full sized lamp post would be too much. Hung at a doorway or under a canopy, it adds a period touch without dominating the space.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

Willie Harte founded Harte Outdoor Lighting in New Ross, County Wexford, in 1983, and the workshop is now carried on by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting has been installed at Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private homes and gardens across Ireland and the UK.
