Harte Georgian Style 0.58m Pier Light - Cast Iron & Steel

At 0.58 metres, this pier light has more visual weight than Harte's smaller pier lights, making it a better match for taller or wider gate piers where a more noticeable fixture is wanted. It belongs to the Courtyard range, taking its cylindrical shade and capped profile from Georgian period lighting.

Cast iron and steel build

Built from cast iron and steel, it's made to stay outdoors through all weather without deteriorating. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its products carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, copper and aluminium products, and damage caused during installation. Gloss black is the standard finish, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Light comes through a cylindrical polycarbonate glazing section, and the ornate cast iron cap above encloses the lamp holder, reducing light pollution and pushing light downward onto the pier and the area around it. It takes an E27 bulb and needs a mains wiring connection and a solid fixing into the pier top, so we recommend a qualified electrician carries out the wiring.

Where it works best

Its taller proportions make it a good choice for substantial gate piers at the entrance to a driveway, where a shorter fixture would look out of scale. It pairs well with matching lamp posts further along a driveway for a consistent look.

This pier light comes from Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer in New Ross, County Wexford, making cast iron lighting since 1983 under founder Willie Harte and now carried forward by Liz Harte and the next generation. Harte says its products are installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, as well as private estates across Ireland and the UK.
