Harte Georgian Style 0.45m Pier Light For Flat Piers - Cast Iron & Steel

This 0.45 metre pier light is built specifically for flat topped piers, gate or boundary piers finished without a coping stone or pyramid cap, so the fixture's base sits flush against the flat surface rather than needing a shaped mount. It's part of Harte's Courtyard range, drawing on Georgian period forms for a light that suits a formal entrance.

Cast iron and steel build

Cast in iron and steel, it's built to sit outdoors permanently rather than needing regular upkeep. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its products carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, copper and aluminium products, and damage caused during installation. It comes in gloss black as standard, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Its cylindrical polycarbonate glazing spreads light around the fixture, while the ornate cast iron capping encloses the lamp housing above, cutting light pollution and directing the beam down toward the pier top and the ground beside it. It's designed for an E27 bulb and a mains wiring connection through the flat pier top, work best carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It's suited to flat topped gate piers and boundary piers at a driveway or garden entrance, giving a defined point of light at each side without needing a pier cap to sit on. Because of the flat fixing, it also works on rendered or block built piers as well as stone ones.
