Harte Copper Railway Style 0.33m Hanging Light With Chain - Copper & Galvanised Steel

At 0.33 metres, this is the larger of Harte's two Copper Railway Style hanging lights, part of the Station Master range inspired by the lighting once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. Suspended from its chain and ceiling rose, it has enough drop and presence to anchor a porch or entrance rather than simply accent it.

Copper and galvanised steel build

Like its smaller counterpart, this fixture is made from copper and galvanised steel rather than painted cast iron, so it carries a copper finish rather than Harte's standard gloss black. The chain and ceiling rose are included, ready to hang from a porch ceiling or beam.

How it works

Light spreads through the cylindrical polycarbonate shade, while the ornate cap above encloses the lamp, cutting glare and directing the beam down towards the doorstep. The fixture connects to mains wiring through the chain and ceiling rose; installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

With its longer 0.33 metre drop, this fixture suits porches or porticos with more headroom, entrance canopies, or anywhere a light needs to hang lower to be seen clearly from a driveway or path. It also works well on a covered patio or pergola where a pendant style light reads better than a wall mounted one.

Harte Outdoor Lighting has been making outdoor lighting from its workshop in New Ross, County Wexford, since 1983, a business founded by Willie Harte and now carried forward by Liz Harte together with the next generation, Jack and Sam Harte.
