Harte Copper Railway Style 0.21m Hanging Light With Chain - Copper & Galvanised Steel

At 0.21 metres, this is the smaller of Harte's two Copper Railway Style hanging lights, a compact fixture from the Station Master range, inspired by lighting once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. Hung on its chain from a ceiling rose, it brings a touch of vintage character to tighter spaces without overwhelming them.

Copper and galvanised steel build

This fixture is made from copper and galvanised steel rather than the cast iron used elsewhere in the Station Master range, so it carries a copper finish rather than Harte's standard gloss black. The chain and ceiling rose are supplied with the fixture, ready to hang from a porch ceiling or beam.

How it works

Its cylindrical shade uses polycarbonate glazing to spread light broadly, while the ornate capping encloses the light source, reducing light pollution and directing the beam downward. The fixture hangs on its chain from the ceiling rose and connects to mains wiring; we recommend a qualified electrician handle the wiring connection.

Where it works best

At just 0.21 metres, this is a compact fixture suited to smaller porches, alcoves or door surrounds, anywhere a hanging light is wanted close to head height without taking up much vertical space. It suits a period doorway as comfortably as a contemporary porch.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This hanging light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer working from New Ross, County Wexford, since 1983. What began with Willie Harte has passed to Liz Harte and the next generation, Jack and Sam Harte, who carry the business forward today. Harte says its lighting can be found at notable Irish locations such as Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, as well as in private homes and porches across Ireland and the UK.
