Harte Classical Large Railway Style 0.8m Wall Light - Cast Iron & Steel

Standing at 0.8 metres, this Large Classical Railway Style wall light belongs to Harte's Station Master range, a collection of outdoor lights inspired by the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. Its scale and cylindrical form give it real presence beside a front door, porch or gable wall, built from materials chosen to last rather than trends chosen to impress.

Cast iron and steel build

The wall light is built from cast iron and steel, chosen for weather resistance over the long term. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish or paint damage, electrical components, copper and aluminium products, and damage caused during installation. The standard finish is gloss black, with other colours available on request.

How it works

The cylindrical shade uses polycarbonate glazing to spread light broadly, while the ornate cast iron cap encloses the light source, directing it downward and reducing glare and upward light spill. It mounts directly to an exterior wall and requires connection to mains wiring; we recommend a qualified electrician handle the installation.

Where it works best

At 0.8 metres, this is one of the larger wall lights in the Station Master range, suited to a front door, gable end or entranceway where a fixture with genuine scale and presence is wanted rather than a smaller, understated light. Its heritage form sits equally well against period stonework or contemporary render.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This wall light comes from Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, making outdoor lighting since 1983. Founded by Willie Harte, the business is now carried forward by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private homes, estates and commercial projects across Ireland and the UK.
