At 3.65 metres, this is the tallest lamp post in Harte's Station Master range, built from cast iron and galvanised steel and finished in gloss black. Where the shorter posts suit a path or doorway, this one is scaled for spaces that need a taller, more formal marker, a long driveway, an estate entrance or grounds with room for a fixture of real height.
Cast iron and galvanised steel build
The post is cast iron and galvanised steel throughout, materials chosen for their resistance to weather over the long term rather than for how they look on day one. The standard finish is gloss black, with other colours available on request. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation.
How it works
The cylindrical shade uses polycarbonate glazing to spread light widely from height, and the ornate cast iron cap encloses the light source, directing it downward to reduce glare and cut down on light spilling upward into the sky. It requires a mains wiring connection and a fixed base, and given its scale, we'd strongly recommend a qualified electrician and a properly prepared foundation.
Where it works best
This is the post to choose when the setting calls for height, a gated entrance, a long avenue, or grounds around a larger period or country house, where a shorter post would look undersized against the surroundings. Placed in pairs either side of a gate or drive, its scale reads as intentional rather than oversized.
Harte, Irish craft since 1983
This lamp post is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, producing cast iron outdoor lighting since 1983, founded by Willie Harte and carried forward today by Liz Harte and the next generation. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private estates and public and commercial projects across Ireland and the UK.
