Harte Classic Railway Style 2.73m Lamp Post - Cast Iron, Steel & Copper Head

This is the copper headed sibling to Harte's plain 2.73 metre Station Master lamp post, the same height and the same cast iron and galvanised steel body, but capped with a copper head rather than one painted in gloss black. It's the version to choose if you want the presence of the taller post along with a genuine material contrast at the top, rather than a single flat colour from base to cap.

Cast iron, steel and a copper head

The shaft and base are cast iron and galvanised steel, gloss black as standard with other colours available on request, while the head is copper, left unpainted so its own colour stays visible against the black below. It's the same construction as the plain 2.73 metre post apart from that one component. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, though this specifically excludes copper and aluminium parts, so the copper head sits outside that cover.

How it works

Light spreads through a cylindrical shade with polycarbonate glazing, and here it's the copper head that acts as the ornate cap, enclosing the light source and sending the light down rather than letting it spill upward. Mains wiring and a fixed base are required, and we'd recommend a qualified electrician for the connection.

Where it works best

At 2.73 metres this post makes a statement on its own at a driveway entrance or beside a front door, and the copper head is a useful way to tie the lighting into other warm metal details already on a building, guttering, door furniture or a porch lantern, without needing to change the post's height or shape.
