Harte Classic Railway Style 1.21m Pedestal Light - Cast Iron & Steel

Standing at 1.21 metres, this pedestal light is one of the taller fixtures in Harte's Station Master range, a collection inspired by lighting once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. Unlike the pier lights in the same range, it stands on its own fixed base rather than mounting to a gate pillar, making it suited to spots without a pier or wall to build from.

Cast iron and galvanised steel build

Built from cast iron with galvanised steel elements, it's finished in gloss black as standard, with other colours available on request. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation.

How it works

The cylindrical shade is glazed in polycarbonate to spread light broadly across its surroundings, and the ornate cap above the lamp housing directs the glow downward, keeping glare and upward spill to a minimum. It requires a mains wiring connection and a fixed base, and we'd recommend a qualified electrician for the wiring.

Where it works best

At just over 1.2 metres, it has enough presence to work as a standalone feature, whether that's set into a lawn, positioned at the corner of a terrace, or used to mark the start of a path where there's no wall or pier nearby to fit a pier light to. Its height puts the light source above eye level without it becoming a dominant, tall post.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This pedestal light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, founded in 1983 and now carried forward by Liz Harte and the next generation of the family. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private gardens and estates across Ireland and the UK.
