Harte Classic Railway Style 0.75m Pedestal Light - Cast Iron & Steel

This pedestal light stands 0.75 metres tall and is built entirely from cast iron and galvanised steel, part of Harte's Station Master range inspired by the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. It's a straightforward, durable fixture designed to hold up in an exposed spot for years without needing much thought after installation.

Cast iron and galvanised steel build

Both the pedestal and the shade housing are cast iron and galvanised steel, finished in gloss black as standard with other colours available on request. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation.

How it works

The cylindrical shade spreads light through polycarbonate glazing, and the ornate cast iron cap above it encloses the lamp, reducing glare and directing light down towards the ground rather than up into the sky. It stands on a fixed pedestal base and requires a mains wiring connection, and we recommend a qualified electrician handle the wiring and a solid ground fixing for the base.

Where it works best

At 0.75 metres this pedestal suits garden paths, patios, and driveway edges where a steady, waist height light is more useful than a tall lamp post. Because it's built from iron and steel throughout, it's well suited to exposed coastal or countryside settings where materials take more of a battering from the weather.

This pedestal light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, producing cast iron outdoor lighting since 1983. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, as well as private homes and public projects across Ireland and the UK.
