Harte Classic Railway Style 0.75m Pedestal Light - Cast Iron & Copper Head

Standing 0.75 metres tall, this pedestal light pairs a cast iron body with a copper head, part of Harte's Station Master range inspired by the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. The copper head sets it apart from the plainer gloss black pieces in the range, giving it a warmer point of interest at eye level.

The pedestal and base are cast iron, finished in gloss black as standard with other colours available on request, while the head is made of copper rather than painted iron. Harte says the cast iron elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, though copper components are excluded from that guarantee, along with surface finish, electrical parts, and installation related damage.

How it works

The cylindrical shade uses polycarbonate glazing to spread light broadly, and the copper cap sits over the lamp, enclosing it and directing the light back down rather than letting it spill upward. It stands on a fixed pedestal base and needs a mains wiring connection, and we recommend a qualified electrician handle the wiring and a suitable ground fixing for the base.

Where it works best

At 0.75 metres it sits low enough to read as a feature rather than a dominant post, which suits a courtyard, a terrace, or either side of a front door where people will notice the copper detailing up close. It works well as a single statement piece rather than lining a long driveway.

This pedestal light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, producing cast iron outdoor lighting since 1983. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private gardens and estates across Ireland and the UK.
