Harte Classic Railway Style 0.62m Wall Light - Cast Iron & Steel

This wall light stands 0.62 metres tall and projects from a wall bracket rather than a post or pier, part of Harte's Station Master range drawing on the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. It's a fixture built to earn its keep beside a doorway or along a boundary, offering steady, functional light rather than a decorative flourish.

Cast iron and galvanised steel build

Built from cast iron and galvanised steel, it's finished to cope with years outdoors rather than to look good only when new. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation. It comes in gloss black as standard, with other colours available on request.

How it works

The cylindrical shade uses polycarbonate glazing to throw light out evenly, and the ornate cap above it encloses the lamp, cutting glare and sending most of the light back down towards the wall and the ground below. Fitting requires a mains wiring connection through the wall bracket, and we recommend a qualified electrician handle the wiring.

Where it works best

Its wall mounted fixing suits a front door surround, a side passage, or spaced along a garden wall or outbuilding where a freestanding post isn't practical. At 0.62 metres it reads as a supporting light rather than a focal point, which makes it easy to use in twos or threes without competing for attention.

This wall light comes from Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, making cast iron outdoor lighting since 1983. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private homes and commercial projects across Ireland and the UK.
