Harte Classic Railway Style 0.52m Pier Light - Cast Iron & Steel

At 0.52 metres, this is the tallest fixture among these Station Master pieces, styled after the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s and built to sit on a pier or pillar cap rather than hang or mount to a wall. Its scale and flat base make it a natural marker for a gate entrance or boundary pier.

Cast iron and steel build

Cast iron and steel give this pier light the weight and rigidity it needs to sit securely on top of a pillar. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation. It's finished in gloss black as standard, with other colours available on request.

How it works

The cylindrical polycarbonate shade spreads light across a wide area, and the ornate cast iron cap sits above the lamp housing, enclosing the light source and directing it downward to limit glare and upward light spill. It fixes to a flat pier or pillar top and requires a mains wiring connection routed up through the base.

Where it works best

Its height and pier fixing make it suited to gate entrances, boundary pillars and pier mounted positions either side of a driveway, where a taller, more visible light reads better than a low path light. Fitted as a pair, it marks an entrance clearly from a distance.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This pier light is made by Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, making cast iron outdoor lighting since 1983. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, alongside private estates and public projects across Ireland and the UK.
