Harte Classic Railway Style 0.21m Hanging Light With Chain - Cast Iron & Galvanised Steel

At 0.21 metres, this is the smallest hanging light in Harte's Station Master range, a design that traces back to the lamps once used on Irish railway platforms in the late 1800s. Suspended by a chain from a ceiling rose, it suits tight, covered spots such as porches, recessed doorways and small canopy roofs, where a full sized fixture would feel out of scale.

Cast iron and galvanised steel build

The light is built from cast iron and galvanised steel, chosen for its resistance to weather over time. Harte says the cast iron and steel elements of its lighting carry a lifetime guarantee against cracking, bending or breaking under normal conditions, with exclusions for surface finish, electrical components, and damage caused during installation. It's finished in gloss black as standard, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Light spreads through a cylindrical polycarbonate shade, while the ornate cast iron cap sits over the lamp housing, enclosing the light source and directing the glow downward rather than letting it spill upward or sideways. The chain and ceiling rose fixing means it hangs rather than mounts flush, giving a slight swing and presence even at this smaller size.

Where it works best

Its compact height makes it a natural fit for porches, covered front doors and small entrance recesses, anywhere a hanging light needs to sit close to head height without dominating the space. It also works well in pairs either side of a narrow doorway.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

This hanging light comes from Harte Outdoor Lighting, a family run manufacturer based in New Ross, County Wexford, founded by Willie Harte in 1983 and carried forward today by Liz Harte and the next generation, including Jack and Sam Harte. Harte says its lighting is installed at notable Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club, as well as private homes and gardens across Ireland and the UK.
