A Rechargeable Table Light With a Candlelit Flicker

The Wick is Graypants' take on a portable table light: no cable trailing across the table, no socket to find, just a small column that lights up wherever you put it down. This is the full sized Wick in brass, standing 26cm tall with a 12cm diameter base, taller and more substantial than the smaller Wick S. A touch sensitive ring beneath the LED lets you move between four brightness settings, including a Pulse mode that flickers gently like a candle flame.

Brass Detailing on a Plated Aluminium Body

The body is plated aluminium with brass detailing, paired with an acrylic element around the light source that softens the glow rather than showing a bare point of light. Brass gives it warm, low key looks that sit comfortably next to wood, linen and other warm materials, and picks up the tone of whatever light is already in the room. It works well as a single piece on a sideboard or console, or in a pair down the centre of a dining table.

How It Works

The Wick runs on a 1W integrated LED rated at 2600K, producing around 35 lumens, enough for ambient or accent lighting rather than a reading light. There is no plug to wire in or bulb to replace: the lamp charges over USB-C, so once it is topped up you can carry it to the table for dinner, out to a terrace, or wherever you need light, then return it to a shelf overnight to recharge. Brightness is controlled by the touch sensitive ring beneath the LED module, cycling through High, Medium and Low settings plus the flickering Pulse mode.

Where It Works Best

Being cordless, the Wick works anywhere you would normally avoid putting a lamp because there is no socket nearby: the centre of a dining table, a hallway console, a bedside table, or carried out to a terrace for the evening. It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways alike, and works just as well in restaurants, bars and hotel lobbies, where the Pulse candlelight setting adds atmosphere without an open flame.

About Graypants

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The studio is best known for sculptural shades made from repurposed materials. The Wick collection is a separate, more recent line that applies that same interest in warm, atmospheric light to a portable, rechargeable table light instead.
