A Quiet Disc of Warm, Filtered Light

The Disc 16 pendant takes the Scraplights idea and pares it back to one clean silhouette: a wide, shallow drum built from reclaimed corrugated cardboard, laser cut into concentric rings and hand assembled by craftspeople in Graypants' studios. At 43cm across, this is the more compact of the two Disc sizes Moonlight stocks, sized to sit as a quiet sculptural object rather than a showpiece. Light filters through its layered card into a warm amber glow, casting soft, ring shaped shadows across ceilings and walls.

The Natural Finish

In Natural, the cardboard is left in its own warm, honey brown tone rather than dyed or painted, so the corrugated texture and the ring pattern of the laser cut layers stay visible up close. Because assembly is done by hand, the exact grain and shading of the card varies slightly from piece to piece, so no two pendants are ever quite identical. It reads as a raw, tactile material against wood, linen and other natural textures, and suits Scandinavian, Japandi and other pared back interiors.

How It Works

The shade is bonded with a non-toxic adhesive and treated with a non-toxic fire retardant, then wired to a round canopy on 2m of black fabric cord (5m is available, please enquire). It takes one E27 bulb, up to 15W LED, which is not supplied, so you can choose the warmth and brightness yourself, and it is dimmable when fitted with a compatible LED. This is a hardwired fitting for indoor use only, and it must always be installed by a qualified electrician, who will also set the final drop on site to suit your ceiling.

Graypants, from Seattle to Amsterdam

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights range began as an accident at a sustainable design competition, where the pair started experimenting with leftover cardboard rather than buying new material. That idea grew into the studio's signature technique of laser cutting and hand layering reclaimed card into lighting, made today across Graypants' Pacific Northwest and Amsterdam studios.
