Graypants Scraplights Bell 10 Pendant - White - 27cm Diameter

A Softer Scale of Scraplight

This is the Bell 10, the smaller of Graypants' two Bell shapes, at 27cm across and finished in White. Most Scraplights are laser cut, but white board scorches under that process, so this shade is knife cut by hand instead, then assembled ring by ring into the same bell profile the range is known for. The result carries the same intricate, ridged texture as the darker Scraplights finishes, just lighter and gentler when it's lit.

The White Finish

The shade is built from reclaimed corrugated cardboard, cut by hand and layered ring on ring so the natural corrugation shows as a fine, wavy texture across the surface. In White, that texture reads as soft ripples rather than sharp shadow lines, and the light that comes through is a diffused, warm white glow rather than the dramatic pinhole pattern you get from the darker board. It suits pale walls, Scandinavian and minimal schemes, or any room where you want the sculptural bell shape without a strong shadow effect.

How It Works

It's a hardwired ceiling pendant, wired with fabric cord to a round canopy. The canopy is 2.5cm high and 10cm across, finished in grey powder coat. The cord is 2m of white fabric as standard, with a 5m length available on request if you need extra drop. It takes a single E27 bulb, up to 15W LED, which isn't included, and it's dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmable LED. As with any hardwired fitting, it should always be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

At this size, the Bell 10 works well on its own as a bedside pendant or a small landing light, and just as well repeated as a run of two or three over a breakfast bar or dining table. It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways and stairs, anywhere you want a soft, sculptural pendant that doesn't dominate the space.

Graypants, from Seattle

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights range itself began almost by accident, when the pair first made shades from leftover cardboard for a sustainable design competition. That original idea, cardboard cut and layered into light, is still what every Scraplight, including this one, is built on.

• This pendant is non-returnable due to its handmade nature. Please get in touch if you would like to see the fittings or request a swatch before ordering.
• The shade is corrugated cardboard treated with a non-toxic fire retardant. Keep it away from damp and direct rain, and dust gently rather than wiping with a wet cloth.
• Comes with a 2m white fabric cord as standard. A 5m cord is available on request if you need a longer drop, so check this against your ceiling height before ordering.
• This is the smaller of the two Bell sizes, at 27cm in diameter, so it's a good fit for bedside and single pendant spots as well as clusters.

Questions People Ask

• Is the Bell 10 in White dimmable? Yes. Fit it with a dimmable LED bulb and it will dim in the same way as any standard dimmable fitting.
• Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, up to 15W LED, which you'll need to source separately.
