The Arcturus is the largest scale in Graypants' Scraplights collection, and at 163cm in diameter it fills a room in a way few pendants can. This White finish wraps layered corrugated cardboard around a central glass diffuser, softening the glow into something warm and diffused rather than a single visible bulb. It reads more as a sculptural ceiling piece than a conventional light fitting.

The White Finish

Where the natural kraft version keeps cardboard's warm brown tone, this White finish gives the same cardboard construction a cooler, more architectural look. The pale surface catches light differently across its many overlapping layers, so the shadow pattern reads softer and more even rather than warm and rustic. It suits a pared back, contemporary interior where you want the scale and shape of the piece to do the talking rather than a strong material colour.

How It Works

Inside the cardboard shell sits a glass diffuser that hides the bulb and spreads its light evenly through the shade. It's a hardwired ceiling pendant, supplied with a 5m white fabric cord and a canopy that's white powder coated steel, 10cm in diameter. Drop height is set on installation, so it's best fitted by a qualified electrician, who can also confirm your ceiling can take the weight.

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. Scraplights themselves started almost by accident, born from leftover cardboard at a sustainable design competition rather than a deliberate product plan.
