A Miniature Halo in Solid Brass

The Chrona Dish 6V is the smallest pendant in Graypants' Chrona family, a brass dish just 14cm across hung on its edge so it reads less like a shade and more like a glowing ring. The dish catches ambient light along its polished rim, while a warm LED strip runs down the centre and diffuses out through an acrylic insert, giving the whole fixture a soft halo rather than a hard point of light. Because it is so compact, it is built to be seen in numbers, grouped in twos or threes rather than hung alone.

Solid Brass, Machined and Polished

This variant is finished in brass, machined from the solid metal rather than plated, so the colour and weight are consistent right through the piece. The polished surface picks up and bounces the light from the LED strip at its centre, and like any natural brass it will develop a little warmth and character over time rather than staying perfectly uniform. The black powder coated ceiling canopy and black fabric cord sit in deliberate contrast to the brass, keeping the fixture looking like a single considered object rather than a shade bolted onto standard hardware.

How It Works

Inside the dish sits a 7W integrated LED module, rated at 150 lumens and a warm 2700K colour temperature, positioned so the light diffuses out through the acrylic strip rather than shining directly at the room below. The fixture is dimmable, so the glow can be turned down to a quiet accent or brought up for more general light. It suspends from a 2 metre black fabric cord and a 4cm high, 13cm diameter black powder coated canopy at the ceiling, with a 5 metre cord available on request for higher ceilings. This is a hardwired fitting, so it needs to be connected by a qualified electrician. It carries CE safety certification and comes with a 2 year warranty.

Where It Works Best

Because each dish is small, this pendant is really designed to be repeated. A cluster of two or three at staggered heights suits a hallway run, a bedside console, or a narrow bar in a way a single fixture can't. It also works well spaced out along a kitchen island or dining table where a softer, more sculptural glow is wanted alongside the main room light, or in a powder room where a small, jewellery like fixture makes more sense than a full pendant. Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati.
