The XXL Wellington in clear glass is the largest of the clear shades in this range, big enough to work as a genuine centrepiece rather than just another pendant.

At this size, the finish makes an even bigger difference. Antique brass keeps it feeling warm and traditional despite the scale, nickel gives a cooler, more contemporary look, bronze reads dark and dramatic, and polished brass is the most striking, catching light across the whole shade.

How It Works

Takes one E27 LED bulb up to 8W (not supplied) and is dimmable with a compatible bulb and dimmer. Because of its size, this pendant comes on a 1m black overbraid flex rather than twist flex, set with a 6.5cm ceiling plate.

Where It Works Best

This is a pendant for a room with height and space to spare, a double height stairwell, a large dining table, or a kitchen island where you want one dramatic light rather than several smaller ones.

Made By Fritz Fryer

Fritz Fryer's workshop in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, has been running since 1982, when the founders were restoring antique lights sourced from around the UK and Europe rather than making new ones. These days the glass is still hand blown in house and the metal finishes are still hand coloured, which is especially visible on a shade this large, where you may notice subtle variation in the glass or metalwork from one pendant to the next. The Wellington name, like the rest of the range, is taken from a village close to the workshop.
