This large Upton shade is available in four metal finishes. Antique brass gives it a soft, aged warmth, nickel keeps the look crisp and neutral, bronze adds a darker contrast against the white glass, and polished brass brings the most shine and a slightly dressier feel.

How It Works

Takes one E27 LED bulb up to 8W (not supplied) and is dimmable with a compatible bulb and dimmer. It hangs on a 1m twist flex with a 6.5cm ceiling plate, so the drop height can be set to suit your ceiling.

Where It Works Best

The white shade diffuses light softly, which makes it a good option above a bedside table, in a hallway, or grouped as a cluster of two or three over a kitchen table where you want gentle, even light rather than a visible bulb.

Made By Fritz Fryer

Fritz Fryer set up in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, in 1982, restoring antique lights before moving into making its own. The white glass shades are still hand blown today and the metal fittings are still hand coloured by hand, which means a very slight shade difference between one white shade and another is normal rather than a flaw. The Upton name, like most of the brand's shades, is borrowed from a Herefordshire town not far from the workshop.
