Fritz Fryer Upton Contemporary Medium Wall Light - Clear Glass (Various Colour Options)

This version of the Upton wall light uses clear glass, so the shape of the bulb inside stays visible rather than hidden behind opaque glass. It gives a slightly more exposed, industrial edge to the same simple cone shade.

Choosing Your Finish

Antique Brass gives the fitting a warm, softly aged character. Nickel is cool and clean, good for a more minimal room. Bronze is dark and understated, almost disappearing against a painted wall. Polished Brass is the brightest and most reflective option, a small but noticeable detail even switched off.

How It Works

The wall light takes one E27 bulb, up to 8W LED, which is not supplied, and it is dimmable. It can be fitted with the shade facing up or down, so it works equally well as an uplighter or a downlight.

Where It Works Best

Because the clear glass lets more light spread into the room, this version suits hallways and living rooms where you want a brighter wall light, as well as bedrooms either side of a bed. It also works well in a dining room where you want the bulb itself to read as a feature.

Fritz Fryer was set up in 1982 in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, originally restoring antique lights from the UK and Europe. The brand still hand blows its glass shades and hand colours its metal finishes today, which is why small variations, such as air bubbles in the glass, turn up from piece to piece. Upton, along with many of Fritz Fryer's shade names, comes from a town or village in Herefordshire.
