This large Upton wall light takes the same skinny ribbed glass shade used elsewhere in the range and turns it into a wall fitting that can point up or down depending on how you mount it.

The skinny ribbed glass has fine vertical lines running down a slim, tapered shade, which catches the light differently depending on the metal it's paired with. Antique brass gives it a warm, older look, nickel keeps it cool and simple, bronze reads dark against a pale wall, and polished brass is the brightest and most reflective option.

How It Works

Fits one E27 LED bulb up to 8W (not supplied) and is dimmable with a compatible bulb and dimmer. It projects 168mm from a 9cm wall mount, and can be fitted facing up or down depending on the effect you want.

Where It Works Best

Because it can face either way, this wall light works well beside a bed as an uplight, in a hallway as a run of two or three, or flanking a mirror or fireplace in a living room.

Fritz Fryer has made lights from its Herefordshire workshop since 1982, starting out by restoring antique fittings from the UK and Europe before developing its own designs. The ribbed glass on this wall light is still hand blown, and the metal arm and wall plate are hand coloured, so small variations from one fitting to the next, in the glass or the metal tone, are simply part of how it's made. The Upton name comes from a village near the Herefordshire workshop, in keeping with the brand's habit of naming shades after local places.
