A striped ceiling pendant inspired by Miami's beachfront
The South Beach pendant carries designer Paul Gruer's beach inspired styling into a ceiling mounted fitting, with black and cream stripes outlining the shade and gold palm leaf finials finishing the top and bottom. Rather than sitting on a base like its floor standing relation, this version hangs from the ceiling, keeping the striped shade as the main focus.
Black and cream finish
The black and cream stripes give the shade a crisp, graphic quality, while the gold palm leaf finials add a warmer, more decorative touch at either end. It's a finish that reads as coastal without being overly literal about it.
How it works
This is a single light ceiling pendant, and it doesn't come with a bulb, so you'll want to add one to your order. Installation should be carried out by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
Suspended above a dining table, breakfast bar or in a hallway with enough headroom, its striped shade and gold finials are best seen at eye level or from below. It's an indoor fitting throughout.
The story behind Flambeau
By 2017, Joe McKearn and Jonathan Lucas of Elstead Lighting had formalised their partnership as Lucas + McKearn, carrying Flambeau and Elstead designs to showrooms in the Dallas Market Center, Atlanta Market and High Point. Flambeau's designs, like Paul Gruer's beach inspired South Beach range, had by then been sold in the UK and Europe for five years, ever since Elstead began manufacturing them under licence in 2012, adapted for 220 to 240V wiring and CE certification. The brand's roots go back further still, to 2000, when McKearn first licensed Gruer's sculptural designs in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
