An oversized wall sconce mixing a rustic wheel frame with sculpted blossoms
Simone brings together two ideas that don't usually sit side by side, the sturdy, traditional look of a rustic wheel chandelier and a softer, floral touch layered over it. This oversized 2 light wall sconce carries a Distressed Silver frame with Gold Leaf sculpted blossoms worked across it, so it functions as much as a piece of wall art as it does as a light source.
Distressed silver and gold finish
The Distressed Silver gives the wheel like frame an aged, weathered look, while the Gold Leaf blossoms sit against it in warmer contrast, softening what could otherwise be quite a heavy, rustic shape. Together they suit interiors that mix textures and finishes rather than sticking rigidly to one metal tone.
How it works
This is a two light wall fitting. Bulbs aren't included, so you'll need two to get it working. Given its oversized scale and wall fixing, we'd recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles installation.
Where it works best
Its size and sculptural presence make it best suited to a wall with some space around it, a stairwell, a large hallway or above a fireplace, somewhere it can properly function as the piece of wall art it's designed to be. It's an indoor fitting throughout.
The story behind Flambeau
Simone has a slightly different history to much of the rest of the Flambeau range. It was originally designed by Elaine Gleason, and the collection has recently been updated and is now manufactured in the UK, rather than following the more familiar route of a US design later adapted by Elstead Lighting for the UK market. It's a reminder that Flambeau, though built around Joe McKearn's original licensing of Paul Gruer's designs from 2000, has grown since then to include work from other designers too, all still carrying that same emphasis on lighting as a considered, sculptural piece in its own right.
